2009 Poster
2009 poster artist Maxine MacLeod and her original watercolor painting, ‘America’s Holland.’ The Tulip Time Festival Poster Committee commissioned MacLeod to paint a commemorative piece embracing the America’s Holland tulip. This variety was developed over the last 5 years by K.P. De Geus from North Holland, Netherlands.
The city of Holland, Michigan has planted thousands of America’s Holland for the Tulip Time Festival’s 80th Anniversary celebration to be unveiled this spring. Maxine MacLeod has been a resident of Michigan most of her life. MacLeod earned an undergraduate degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and a Master of Arts degree from Western Michigan University. She has exhibited in galleries in Michigan, Illinois, and Florida. MacLeod was Artist-in-Residence for the March Festival of Arts in Holland, MI and at the Franciscan Life Center in Lowell, MI. Although primarily a watercolorist, MacLeod occasionally mixes in acrylics to give a sharper tone to her work. The landscapes and flowers of the Midwest are her favorite subjects (www.maxinemacleod.com).
