Tulip Time Announces Complete Entertainment Line-Up AND Special Saturday Office Hours

HOLLAND, MI – April 16, 2008. The 2008 Tulip Time Festival (www.tuliptime.com ) is proud to showcase national and local talent appealing to a variety of musical and entertainment interests for all ages.

The Tulip Time Festival office will be open for ticket and merchandise purchasing this Saturday April 19 and next Saturday April 26 from 10am-2pm. All event tickets are available through the Tulip Time Festival office, located at 238 South River, except for Jonny Lang. Lang tickets are available through Star Tickets Plus, 1.800.585.3737, www.starticketsplus.com or any Meijer ticket outlet center.

NEW Sixth Street Stage:
This year’s new outdoor concert location, Sixth Street Stage, will host two major concert events, Tulipalooza and Bier & Muziek Fest. Sixth Street Stage is located at 6th Street and College Avenue. Each night will be a celebration of music, community, food and fun for all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to use for their comfort during the shows. A special VIP section, for the first 25 people to attend, will also be available at the Thursday and Friday night beer gardens. Must be 21 or over with a valid id for VIP passes. All concerts will occur rain or shine.

Tulipalooza will take place Tuesday, May 6 through Friday, May 9 from 7-10pm. The musical line-up is as follows:

Fun in the Sun - Tuesday, May 6. Join STAR 108 and the Fun in the Sun band for this interactive, family fun event. Playing Jimmy Buffet, island music and other summer fun songs the band is an energetic interactive celebration. Where audience members of all ages can participate in hula-hoop contests, limbo contests, and more.

50’s & 60’s DJ and Antique Car Show - Wednesday, May 7. Enjoy 50’s & 60’s music with WHTC DJ and a “cruise in” car show where any antique car is welcome. This sock hop throwback is full service with Frosty’s Rootbeer Floats and classic American foods. Come hungry for great music, cool cars and delicious eats!

Pop Evil and Headed for Zen - BEER GARDEN - Thursday, May 8. $5 entrance fee at the gate. WGRD hosts Pop Evil and Headed for Zen with special guests The RAGE dance team. Based in West Michigan, Pop Evil has steadily built an amazing following locally and nationally. Opening for artists like Kid Rock and Daughtry.

The Bronk Brothers - BEER GARDEN and Chili Cook-Off Contest - Friday, May 9. $5 entrance fee at the gate. The Bronk Brothers and WMUS make the stage sizzle with this “Rockin’ Hillbilly Extravaganza.” They’ve performed with some of Nashville’s biggest acts such as Phil Vassar, Dierks Bentley and the Oak Ridge Boys.

Bier & Muziek Fest will take place Saturday, May 10, 5pm - 12am. $7 in advance, $9 at the door.
“That 80’s Band”, Jimmie Stagger, Shirey Brothers and LaSondra Leffler (Lakeshore Idol Winner). A local concert favorite, this year will bring an additional sampling of local restaurants and a variety of beers.

Tony Orlando In Concert - Thursday, May 8, 4:30 and 8pm, $36. Central Wesleyan Auditorium, 446 West 40th Street. Concert sponsored by Flagstar Bank.

Ronnie Milsap - Friday, May 9, 4:30 and 8pm, $36. Central Wesleyan Auditorium, 446 West 40th Street, Holland, MI. Concert sponsored by Heinz and Trans-matic.

Local Variety Shows:
NEW EVENT - Praise Gathering - Sunday, May 4, 3-6pm, FREE. 8th Street Marketplace - 8th Street & Pine Avenue. Enjoy family time with the high-energy band Hark Up Down Home Horns featuring old fashioned Gospel music including sing-a-longs, special solos and Gospel song stories. Special performance by our Mother/Daughter Dutch Dance Groups. Event sponsored by Haveman Electric Services, Inc.

NEW EVENT – Storyteller – May 3, 11am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, FREE. Centennial Park Gazebo. Dutch folk tales come alive with storytellers from Dutch History Live. These storytellers have traveled nationally, entertaining audiences of all ages with educational, interactive and humorous stories.

NEW EVENT - Mary Rademacher & Friends - Monday, May 5, 7:30pm, $18. Knickerbocker Theatre - 86 East 8th Street. Mary Rademacher and friends bring you a night of amazing variety. This multi-faceted vocalist entertainer will perform a sampling of jazz to modern pop and a special boogie down Broadway including your favorite show tunes. Event sponsored by Macatawa Bank.

NEW EVENT- River City Improv - Tuesday, May 6, 7:30pm, $18. Knickerbocker Theatre - 86 East 8th Street. River City Improv performs short-form Improvisational comedy based on audience suggestions. Their style of clean, wholesome humor and witty Improv is similar to that seen on ABC’s Whose Line is it Anyway? Their show melds together different styles of Improv to provide an evening of gut-wrenching, roll-on-the-floor, rip-roaring fun. Event sponsored by Lumir.

NEW LOCATION - THREE MEN and a TENOR - Wednesday, May 7, 7:30pm, $18. Christ Memorial Auditorium - 595 Graafschap Road. Catch this hilarious, high-energy acapella group performing arrangements from popular artists like The Temptations, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Marley, as well as several of the band’s original songs. Event sponsored by Lorence & VanderZwart.

NEW SHOW AND LOCATION - New Odyssey – May 5 – 10, 6:30pm, $35. Hope College, Haworth Inn - 225 College Avenue. Playing everywhere to the delight and surprise of their audiences, these three gentlemen perform on more than thirty musical instruments! Featuring dynamic arrangements from Beethoven to the present, mixed with some of the most original treatments of comedy, music novelty, and vocal acrobatics. Dinner included. Event sponsored by Walgreens.

NEW SHOW - On Broadway - May 5 – 9, 11am, $20. Evergreen Commons Senior Center - 480 State Street. Event sponsored by HUB International.

A Taste of Holland – May 6-9, 8:30am, $12. Hope College, Maas Center - 11th Street & Columbia Avenue. Event sponsored by Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation – The Brooks Family Fund.

New Ticket System

Tulip Time has also updated its ticketing system to make it more convenient and efficient for ordering tickets online. An added feature to the online system includes venue map layouts for shows that offer reserved ticket seating. This allows customers to select a section and row themselves when ordering online. The system also gives staff real time availability to better serve our customers.
