Tulip Time Festival Dutch Dance Costume Style Show

Holland, MI – Tulip Time Festival (www.tuliptime.com) announces the annual Dutch Dance Costume Style Show to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 (Snow Date is January 17, 2013) at The Gathering Place, located at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd., Holland, Michigan.

This year’s style show will feature area dancers modeling the 18 available costumes, representing 8 provinces. The program will feature historical aspects of each costume, options for dancers, as well as details and guidelines about the Dutch Dance program in general.

“Before the style show takes place, a preview of the Dutch Dance fabric options is hosted by Field’s Fabrics in Holland,” states Judy Tuinenga, Tulip Time Festival’s Dutch Dance Program Director, “along with nine Costume Directors, we select and approve all fabrics appropriate for costumes.” This preview and selection process will take place the week prior.

The style show is the perfect opportunity for new Dutch Dancers to consider their costumes for the upcoming Tulip Time Festival. In addition, Dutch Dance and Costume Directors will discuss program details regarding the costume selection process. Once dancers and Costume Directors have determined the costume each dancer will wear, the process of obtaining patterns, working with seamstresses and receiving instruction on how to make each costumes begins. Downtown merchants, those that march in parades, volunteers, and anyone interested in Dutch Dance costumes and the Dutch Dancing program are invited to attend. There is no charge for the show.

A special thanks to Field’s Fabrics for their continued support of the Dutch Dance program and their generous giving of time in hosting the fabric preview and sponsoring the Dutch Dance Costume Style Show once again this year.

Tulip Time Festival 2013 is May 4 – 11. Detailed program and event information for the coming festival is available on www.tuliptime.com.
