Tulip Time Festival Presents New Location for Petal Pops 2008
Featuring the Holland Symphony Orchestra and Vocalist Margaret Carlson

HOLLAND, MI – Thursday, May 22, 2008. Tulip Time is pleased to announce the 8th annual Petal Pops concert to be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, 7:30pm. Gates open at 6pm for picnicking. This year’s outdoor concert titled “Singin’ and Scattin’ with the Symphony” will be held at the new Sixth Street Stage location near 6th Street and College Avenue just east of Window on the Waterfront Park.

Tamra Bouman, Tulip Time Executive Director commented that, “'Petal Pops is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Holland Symphony in a scenic, open air setting. By moving to the Sixth Street Stage location we can now offer our guests more space for picnicking and enhanced concert viewing. We look forward to another successful Petal Pops!"

Music Director and Conductor Johannes Müller-Stosch and special guest vocalist Margaret Carlson will be “singin’ and scattin’” the night away with exceptional arrangements from some of America’s greatest composers. Margaret Carlson has been compared to Julie Andrews and Maureen McGovern, with her elegant musical style and on-stage presence. She will delight your audience with the gentle simplicity, power and skilled playfulness of her voice and arrangements.

In her early years, Margaret toured the United States singing in resorts and clubs and was featured on numerous television and radio commercials. In 1985 she was awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Musicianship” award from the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival. She has recorded two CDs: “Once in a Blue Moon” and “This Christmas...my favorite things” which received a Grammy nomination in the “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” category. Today, Margaret performs her beautifully orchestrated arrangements with symphonies. She can be heard at music festivals and as a performer and clinician at schools. Joining Carlson will be jazz combo: Dick Reynolds, pianist/arranger; Mike VanLente, drums; and Jeff Beavan, bass.

Gates open at 6pm for picnicking, so bring your food, grab a chair and come early to enjoy the beautiful new location that is Sixth Street Stage. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase onsite.

Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors (62 and over), $5.00 for children (12 and under), and $35.00 for families (includes 2 adults and up to 4 children ages 12 and under). Reserved table seating for parties of 8 is $350. Individual reserved seating is $45. All reserved seating is limited and should be reserved by June 12, 2008. Reserved tables include admission, premium seating, gourmet boxed meals and beverages all at a beautifully arranged table.

Tickets are now on sale at the Tulip Time Festival office located at 238 South River Avenue, Holland, MI, or online at www.tuliptime.com. Phone orders will be accepted by calling 616-396-4221 or 800-822-2770. Office hours are 9am – 3pm Monday through Thursday, closed Fridays. Tickets may also be purchased through the Holland Symphony Orchestra Office located at 150 E. 8th Street, Holland, MI, 616-796-6780. Pre-purchase tickets are recommended however admission is also available at gate. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs if not purchasing a catered table.

Rain location for this event is the Holland Civic Center located at 150 W. 8th Street, Holland, MI. All tickets are non-refundable. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with valid I.D. Guests are asked not to bring their own alcoholic beverages. City policy does not permit individuals to bring their own alcoholic beverages onto city property.
