Tulip Time Poster Signing and Poster Reception

POSTER SIGNING
HOLLAND, MI – January 21, 2008.  The media is invited to attend Tulip Time Festival’s annual poster signing featuring the 2008 Tulip Time poster, ‘She Loves Me Not’ by East Grand Rapids artist, Yolanda Gonzalez.  Limited edition 24” x 36” giclée prints will be signed by Gonzalez, Thursday, January 24th, 2008 from 10am – 12pm at the new Tulip Time office location 238 S. River Ave. This event is open to the media and Gonzalez will be available for photos and interviews.

This year’s poster introduces a new level of poster art unlike any image Tulip Time has featured. With assistance from members on the Tulip Time Poster Committee and Holland based Fairly Painless Advertising, the Festival was able to reach “outside the box” and capture a truly unique piece of art. 

Gonzalez earned a visual communications degree at Ferris State University and has worked for many years doing freelance work for local and national organizations.  She creates colorful, simple images using gouache, acrylics, and colored markers. Gonzalez finds these media appealing because they are flexible, forgiving, allow her to get her ideas down quickly, and reveal the brushstrokes or imperfections that lend her work a handmade feel.

“We believe the 2008 Tulip Time Poster will be a piece that generates much interest,” says Tamra Bouman, Tulip Time Executive Director. "While it naturally showcases the tulip, through its minimal coloring and simplicity the image is unique and appealing. We are proud to introduce Yolanda and her work to the community and Tulip Time visitors alike."

ANNUAL POSTER RECEPTION
This year's 26th annual Poster Reception will be held on Thursday, February 7th from 5:30-7:30pm at the new City Flats Hotel located at 61 E. 7th Street. This reception is by invitation only. Recognition will be given to the 2008 Tulip Time Poster Artist, Yolanda Gonzalez, along with the unveiling of the 2008 poster “She Loves Me Not.” Also featured will be framed giclées, provided by local galleries and frame shops, showcasing different ways this year's poster can be displayed. Attendees will also get a sneak preview of City Flats Hotel before their March opening. The media is encouraged to attend this event.
