Each year a work of art is selected for the official Tulip Time Festival poster. In addition to the poster, the artwork is used on merchandise throughout the festival year. The HAAC administers the Art in Bloom Competition inviting artists in Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Muskegon and Kalamazoo counties to submit artwork for the poster competition which are then reviewed by a juror.

This year’s juror will be Rich Evenhouse, co-founder of Next Marketing and Design and board member at the Holland Area Arts Council. Evenhouse will narrow the submissions to the Top 20 pieces, and the final Tulip Time Festival poster artwork will be selected from this Top 20 by representatives from both Tulip Time and the Holland Area Arts Council.

ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 6, 2017 BEFORE 5:00PM.

The Top 20 artists and their works will be featured at First Bloom, a special unveiling reception held in February where the winner will be announced. The remaining 19 finalists’ original works will be placed on display at the Holland Area Arts Council from May 5 through May 11 inviting the public to participate in the Viewers’ Choice Awards by voting for their favorite image. Cash prizes will be awarded on May 12 to the top three works of art with the most votes.
