“Children’s Parade” Thursday, May 11, 2023

Dutch Dance Performances: 12:00pm

White Glove Inspection and Community Street Scrubbing: 1:30pm
Beginning at 8th Street & Columbia Ave., continuing on 8th Street to Kollen Park
The public is invited to take part in this grand tradition. They will don their Dutch costumes, grab a bucket and a broom, and scrub the streets clean for the coming performances. Town officials will walk through with their ceremonial white glove inspection to approve the streets for the parade and when the town crier officially announces the official's approval, the parade will start.

STREET SCRUBBERS: Please bring your own brooms and buckets. Scrubbing starts at 1:30 pm at the corner of 8th Street and Columbia Ave. Participants are encouraged to show up at 1:15 to line up. Scrubbers are asked to gather in the pocket park on the northeast corner of 8th Street and Columbia Ave.

The Gentex Kinderparade (children’s parade) is a time-honored favorite. Elementary school children will line up with their teachers and school administrators in full costume and smiling faces as they march together through downtown Holland. Each school and grade will have their own theme that nods to the towns’ Dutch heritage, from Dutch agriculture to the Dutch Master’s painters. Dozens of bands from West Michigan middle and high schools showcase their talents amid the community floats through downtown Holland. In the event of severe weather, the Gentex Kinderparade on Thursday, May 11, 2023, will be canceled and no rain delay will be planned.

Tulip Time’s primary concern with parades is the safety of the general public and parade participants, especially the children participating in the Kinderparade. Tulip Time coordinates with public safety resources from multiple communities to ensure the safety and proper coordination of a full parade.
