Beth De Jong is a local artist from Holland, MI.  She has always loved painting with various mediums and began doing so professionally in 2002. In 2009, she received her B.A. from Hope College in Elementary Education and the Fine Arts.  DeJong taught in general education and also worked as the Art Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holland, where she taught and provided various art opportunities for 1st -12th grade. Presently, she is a Lower Montessori teacher at Waukazoo Elementary. She and her husband are also musicians involved in several musical groups throughout the community.  Immersed in time spent with students, art and music, DeJong continues to thrive from the inspiration that surrounds her.

When describing her Art In Bloom piece, DeJong states, “The celebratory floral tulip balloons are significant for the festivities of the 90th anniversary of Tulip Time in Holland, MI. This piece honors the Dutch royal family and the Netherlands with its monochromatic shades of orange, which accentuates the festival’s heritage. Hoping to be released, the balloons have some freedom to bounce around in the bow’s loose grip allowing them to dance in the spring breeze."
