Tulip Time Announces Additional Events for 2023 Festival

HOLLAND, Mich. – January 12, 2023, Tulip Time Festival is bringing two new events to the festival this year. Tulip Time is bringing Bicycle Showband Crescendo to the United States for the first time ever. Also, for the first time ever, the Tulip Time Run will partner with the Holland Haven Marathon to create the Double Dutch Challenge for runners from near and far. January marks the time when Tulip Time opens volunteer opportunities to community residents. And quilters are now asked to start preparing their quilts for the 2023 Tulip Time Quilt Show.

Bicycle Showband Crescendo

You can’t call Bicycle Showband Crescendo an ordinary marching band. Traveling from the Netherlands to the U.S. for the first time ever, Crescendo will be bringing their instruments, their traditional Volendam (Dutch) costumes and their bicycles!

Every instrumentalist, from piccolos to tubas, plays while riding in stunning complex choreography on their bicycles in their wooden shoes.

Crescendo has played all over Europe and Asia collecting awards for their performances at world showband competitions and will be joining the Tulip Time festivities with dedicated performances at Ray Smith Stadium on Friday, May 12 at 11 am, 2 pm, and 7 pm; Saturday, May 13 at 11 am and 7 pm; and Sunday, May 14 at 11 am. Crescendo will also be joining the Quality Car Wash Volksparade on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2 pm. All performances are free to attend.

Full show details will be available at TulipTime.com/BicycleBand

Tulip Time Run Double Dutch Challenge

The Tulip Time Run is proud to announce the Double Dutch Challenge in partnership with the Holland Haven Marathon.

Any runner who registers for and completes both the 2023 Tulip Time Run on Saturday, May 6th, and the 2023 Holland Haven Marathon on Sunday, September 10, 2023 will be awarded the first-ever Double Dutch Challenge medal. Runners can complete any distance race, except the kids fun run, to qualify, so long as they complete one distance from each race.

Race distances for the Holland Haven Marathon include 8k, half marathon and full marathon. Runners who choose the virtual race option on either or both races will be eligible for the Double Dutch Medal. Annual Call for Volunteers

Every year Tulip Time is made possible by our friends and partners in the West Michigan community. The festival takes over 800 volunteers to welcome the world to our community by celebrating tulips, Dutch heritage and Holland today.

Volunteer registration is now open and includes everything from greeting guests, helping park cars, parade marshals and helping set up and tear down for events throughout the week. There is truly a volunteer spot for everyone, but some fill up fast.

Community members can sign up to volunteer at TulipTime.com/Volunteer.
