Celebrate Tulip Time!

The Gentex Kinderparade at Tulip Time in Holland, Michigan, is a cherished tradition that celebrates the city’s deep Dutch roots. This festive event features local children dressed in authentic Dutch costumes, each representing different provinces of the Netherlands. As they march through downtown Holland, the streets come alive with vibrant colors, lively music from marching bands, and beautifully decorated floats, creating an atmosphere of joy and cultural pride.

Scrub the Streets!

One of the most unique and beloved aspects of the parade is the Dutch street scrubbing tradition. Before the parade begins, participants dressed in traditional attire take to the streets with brooms and buckets of water, scrubbing the pavement clean in a symbolic gesture of hospitality and preparation. This custom, passed down through generations, reflects the Dutch value of cleanliness and community spirit. It transforms the parade route into a living display of heritage, where residents and visitors alike can experience a hands-on connection to Holland’s cultural traditions.
